Sperm motility refers to the ability for a man's sperm to swim properly. Fertilization is the process whereby sperm and eggs interact reciprocally to begin development. Some infections can interfere with sperm production or sperm health or can cause scarring that blocks the passage of sperm. Sperm can be especially vulnerable to environmental factors, such as exposure to excessive heat or toxic chemicals.
